The Pacific dogwood (Cornus nuttallii) was adopted in 1956 as British Columbia's floral emblem. It grows six to eight metres high (18' to 24') and flowers in April and May. In the autumn it is conspicuous for its cluster of bright red berries and brilliant foliage. The white dogwood can be found all along our British Columbia coast (yards, parks & in the wild) but I have only seen the pink in peoples yards and a number of parks (never in the wild). A dogwood tree in full bloom is a spectacular sight.
