Bama, I am surprised at the 1800 GW getting that good of mileage. Basically the same I get on my 1300 Royale. But then again, I was a fan of big 60's cars with way too much engine that got decent mileage because the engine never had to work hard! Still, I don't see the need for more than 1800, and would still buy a silver Wing 650 if I could find a good one.

Alepel, my older son's bike is funny riding. How? Well it has this wierd wobble in turns. NO, not the handlebar shake that a lot of bikes have, this doesn't effect the handlebars. It kind of goes into a turn, I start to lean and then the bike wants to STAND UP just a little bit, then it tries to lay back over, it does this again and again slowly in a turn, making it impossible to do a consistent corner and really spooking me till I learned it didn't get worse. Thing goes straight pretty nice, but any lean and you get this wierd feeling. Prev. owner said he put on a new tire and chain, I wonder if the rear wheel is out of alignment? Also, need to check all bolts and tire pressure etc. If you have a clue, let me know.

My younger son is now getting the itch for a bike (I started something didn't I?) but first must come a Mustang for his wife, he has a 67 Chevy Impala as a toy, and she wants' the next big toy, and she deserves it, so I think that will come before anything else. If he gets his MSF course and license though, Jan might let him ride her Shadow (but he is a BIG boy at 6-6 and 300#, he will overpower the bike visually if not physically) Maybe I will let him ride mine, and I will ride the Shadow. I am a big guy, but right at 6' so I fit the Shadow OK.

About the royale, I find that my bike leans into curves and is fun to throw around. I don't have much to compare it with, but for a big bike, it isn't that top heavy. Remember that almost all the gas is under the seat and way down low, center of gravity is lower on those than it seems.

Still Jan's Shadow feels like a toy to pass between hands while sitting on it, while the Royale is....well, NOT so easy!

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Star 242 is going to Brown County Indiana and we are renting cabins and cooking out. taking wine, cheese, sausage and also brats, potatoes to bake and more with me on the bike. Wine is for after we park the bike of course.

Everyone have fun and be safe.
