How about a ride to the Gauley River Bridge, it's the biggest of it's type in the world, so they say!
You are mostly likely referring to the New River Gorge Bridge. It is the second longest steel arch bridge in the world (3030 feet). It is also the tallest bridge in the US and the second tallest in the world at 876 feet.
From Slaty Fork, the closest point on our planned ride, to the bridge at Fayetteville, would add 100 miles each way to the ride. That would make it a 355 mile ride. In West Virginia on 2 lane highways, that is 8 to 10 hours non-stop riding. The bridge is something to see and a definite photo op but would have to be on Saturday or we could rearrange the Friday ride.
The 6th Annual Ace Tourer Rally visited the bridge last fall. I imagine those who were there would want to add something new to the memory album. We could always have a couple different rides so some go one way and the rest go another. I'd hate to split the group any more than that. We have way lotta much fun as a group.
Anyone else got a couple pennies?

To Andy,
That route 72 is not as much fun as it looks. It's about 20 miles and rough. Last time I was on it in the car, (just wanted to see what it was like) It was in pretty bad shape. Took over an hour in the car one end to the other. Lotta switchbacks but road is not nice.
