Made it to my first "T" rally! What a great bunch of people! I enjoyed meeting everyone. Everyone was so friendly and laid back, that is until they fired up their TOURERS???
I made it home today about 4pm. I drove over 11 hours yesterday to see my daughter in Banner Elk, NC. Left Elkins around 10:30 am, I wanted to stay off the main roads and see as much as possible....Now I have seen all the mountains I can handle for sometime. I took 20 out of Buckhannon all the way to 19, missed a few turns and probably went 50 miles extra backtracking. Took 19 across the New River gorge and thru the East River tunnel, both were fun. 19 took me to 77 which is a toll road, the WV part of 77 is a total POS, it beat me up, my ribs hurt from all the bouncing, ironic the worst road I was on the entire trip I had to pay to ride on. The Va part was not bad at all. Bent on see as much country as possible, stupid me, I got off 77 onto 21 in Wytheville Va took it down to 221 in NC and stayed on 221 until it ran into 421 at Deep Gap, between Wilkesboro and Boone. Never have I been so happy to see a four lane. Only one incident, got in the marbles in a fairly tight turn on 221 and almost had to "Lay'er down", Terry knows what I mean! Met my daughter in Boone for dinner about 9:30 pm and then followed her over to Banner Elk, it was around midnight before I finally parked the bike for the night. Four hours and 220 miles of interstate today. 1150 miles total and my butt is happy to be off the seat! Kirk must have an iron a**! Happy to hear everyone has made it home safely. Looking forward to next year.
