Everyone was so friendly and laid back, that is until they fired up their TOURERS???

This comment really has me thinking and laughing to my self in the good natured manner I think it was intended. Those of us who have been to a number of these rallies often talk about a fast group and a slow group. The fast group lead by Fred and the slow by Brian (I ride with the slow). Truth be told the slow group rides darn fast too, which I guess makes the fast group *@$%# fast. A lot of us ride these cruisers more like sport tourers. The tourer is a great flexible bike; it is just as happy cruising as it is getting thrown around. I hope no one was put off by the spirited riding, we are happy to have the "cruisers" too.

Tony, I have noticed a BIG difference in our riding skills (and speed) over the past few years. I think most of us look forward to the rally not only for the GREAT get togethers but also for the opportunity to ride with those that are willing and able to "stretch" their skills and enjoy a challenge. I am always most happy to ride with this group because you can trust them. No one rides too close, no one rides intoxicated and no one pressures anyone to ride beyond their skill level. For this reason I am free to enjoy the awesome mountain roads & the company. I think the "fast group" is an inspiration....not because they are fast...but because they hone their skills and they show those of us that need a challenge what can be done with time and practice. But, like you said "cruisers" are cool, too. Last year Mike & Nancy said they just wanted to take their time & enjoy the scenery and we were all happy just waiting for them at the forks of the road.
I am blessed to have such awesome teachers and role models.......Fred, Brian, Tony....and many more of you. (And Tony doesn't razz me when I occasionally rool out a "sloppy turn"....and he usually rides behind me so he would know. image
