I spoke to Gary last night. He said he rode though some terrible weather on Sunday, rain the whole way. He had to stop twice under overpasses. First when the car in front of him was struck by lightning then later down the road it started hailing. He rolled into Knoxville after 9; over 450 miles in the rain must have been exhausting. Monday he rode the dragon 3 times, got some souvenirs at deals gap then headed down 28 to US-74 then back up 129 to Robbinsville before tackling the Cherohala Skyway. Leaving Tellico plains he took 68 back to the slab and ended up in Crossville, TN on I-40, about half way between Knoxville and Nashville, for the night. He said that he really enjoyed the roads Andy and I both recommended. I got the impression he is thoroughly enjoying himself . His plan was to take US-127 north out of Crossville today (Tuesday) and try to make it back up towards Indianapolis; which should be around 350 miles. Then Wednesday head into Illinois I assume.
