Don't know about y'all but if you are doing any serious long-distance riding, having to stop for gas every 120 miles can really slow you down (I hit reserves pretty consistently at 120...maybe it is just me). A company called Coyote Gear makes aluminum auxillary tanks you can fit almost anwhere. If you want just an extra 40 miles, you can get a small one gallon one that fits on the handlebars. I was a little more ambitious and put a 4.5 gallon (10"X 14" tank on a solid-steel luggage rack on the back. It gravity feeds into a T-connection just below the tank-shutoff (don't leave both tanks open because the fuel pump reads that as over-pressurized and fuel starts pouring out of the overflow). I have 200 miles in the back tank and 120 in the front now (and an unending source of conversation starters as I get asked...is that a pony keg on the back?). I rarely ride out the full 300 (my rear fails before then) but I no longer take crap from my harley bretheren who have a range of about 200 miles) Floorboards are the second biggy and then the throttle lock and rocker are also important. Big fan of the tank bag for maps, etc. Since my rides go late into the night, I am also pulling the hallogen bulb out and converting it to bi-xenon which is about 3X as bright. The power outlet sounds like a good idea and I will probably add that, too.
