Bama, My '86 VR is just fine in the heat. With the fairly full body, and closing the vents on the side (they are to be open in winter) the heat is very low in hot weather.slow traffic. I am concerned about that with the Ultra, I was feeling more heat at 80 degrees on my days ride than ever on my VR. I have not been on a modern Wing in hot weather, but that is not one of the complaints I hear from my friends in the local Gold Wing club, and one I don't see in the magazine, so they must do a great job of managing heat. The flat low engine helps a lot in this respect, I am sure. But the V4 Yamaha is a great water cooled engine, and as such is less likely to radiate heat than any air cooled engine. As a 1300 it isn't as big as many big bike engines these days, but it will still keep up!
