Please don't ever get in the mind set of using your handgun as a deterrent. That will get you killed. If you have the idea in your mind of pulling a gun to scare someone off, your thinking needs to be rebooted. The intention of pulling the gun out is to pull the trigger. No other purpose. And that is not just my humble opinion.
Couldn't agree with you more, Dan.  As I stated in my first post, "My guns are always loaded and ready and never come out of their holsters unless I'm going to use them."  The point I was attempting to make, although it is obvious now that what I was thinking wasn't articulated very well,  was that if an individual is making a serious move on you, and you draw a weapon on them, looking down the barrel of a .45 has a tendency to make them give a second thought as to what they are doing; point being, one of those little mini-pistols doesn't do that near as affectively.

I have no desire to ever shoot anyone again, but I will if I have to.  If the time comes, I will pull the trigger, but only as a last resort, as the law requires.   I apologize for not stating that more clearly.
