The LCP is a very popular CCW and not without good reason. It and the Kel-tec are responsible for the run on 380 ammo.
The guv'ner of the Great State of Texas used an LCP with a Crimson Trace to smoke a coyote that was looking at his dog for a meal. Yes, Ruger released a limited run commemorative "Rick Perry" edition LCP.

As for displaying a CCW to deter an assailant, Texas law is actually very specific about that. It states the display of a weapon is justified when the use of a weapon is justified.  Other states may have similar definitions.
