NoChain,

You have been not only moving a lot, but also great distances.  Is it all work related?

The way that I would ride my T, which was about 10,000 miles a year with 6-7000 miles a year commuting 60 miles a day on the four lanes and backroads, and also about 3-4000 miles a year taking backroad trips, I normally was switching to reserve between 120-130 miles and stopping for gas in another 15-30 miles.  I have run out of gas a couple of time, once on purpose to see how many miles I could go and much the tank would hold and once when for some unexplicable reason reserve did not work.  I have also come as close to running out as 0.07 gallons.  That is really cutting it close.  Unless you are running very fast (80-90 mph), two-up, into a head wind I would not think you would need to stop for gas every 80 miles.  Some riders stop every 100 miles.  Many just switch to reserve on the fly and then stop when they see a gas station.
