I'm not sure if the T used more than one type of fuel petcock but the one they're currently using is the single tube type and is on my bike it's a 1998. This first picture shows the single tube and if you look close at the base of the tube on the first picure at about 11 oclock you can see a a partial view of a hole at the base of the petcock tube. This is the hole that the reserve fuel flows into. When not on reserve the fuel flows through the tube . The handle position decides how the fuel flows by blocking one of the holes in the inner part of the petcock.(the second picture). The fuel always flows through the hole at six o'clock and on to the filter and it either comes from the tube hole at 12 o'clock or through the hole at 3 o'clock, the reserve hole that is fed by the hole at the base of the tube.I'm sure someone could do a much better job of explaining this In summary when in the run position the ball bearing that is spring loaded is blocking the reserve hole ( 3 o'clock) fuel flows down from the tube through the top hole and through the 6 o'clock hole. When in the reserve position the ball bearing is positioned in the indent at 9 o'clock and fuel level that is now below the tube is flowing from a hole at the base of the tube through the 3 o'clock hole then through the 6 o'clock hole. And when in the off position the ball bearing is blocking the 6 o'clock hole which is the only outlet to the filter.I don't think I would have made it as a technical writer but there it iso
