Howdy folks, New member, lurking since July. Bought a '98 Tourer from my Pa. It was his first bike and it is my first cruiser. 26K with no mods until
recently. I just installed a V&H exhaust, K&N filter and my mechanic is jetting it as we speak. Once I get it back I will install heated grips and that
should be it for a while. I like the bike much more than I thought I would. I love the comfort, wind protection and the low maintenance aspect. I'm a
little disappointed in the fuel economy, range and cornering clearance. I had a close call early on when I hit the floorboard mount on a curve; the bike kicked
sideways, but luckily I didn't lose it. Since then I have dialed it back a little in the twisties. I am planning to put some titanium channel on the
floorboards as they do hit pavement a lot.
I also ride a '02 Honda VFR Interceptor (ABS) with the optional saddlebags, a '00 Suzuki DR650 with panniers, a '98 Ducati 900SS and a '01 Kawasaki Super Sherpa 250. I am a year-round bike commuter and my wife and I enjoy traveling on the bikes. Route 66 and a recent trip to Mexico's Copper Canyon are two big trips of note.
I want to thank the founders and members of this board as you have already been a huge help with a wealth of knowledge and information. Helping with tire choices, exhaust and so forth. Especially the forewarning of the difficulty of installing the V&H exhaust with the Cobra floorboards.
Thank you,
Matt
