New To A T |
Lead | ||
|
Hi - New to the forum, new to owning a T - I just purchased my 1999 Ace Tourer in March. Have been riding a Honda Shadow ACE 750 for the past 2 years.
The 750 started out as my husband's and then he wanted something bigger and I loved the 750 so much I couldn't part with it. So I took the safety
course and haven't riden on the back of my husband bike since (ha!). Then this past year we decided we wanted to try some longer rides and my husband felt
I needed a bigger bike to go through the mountains. Found the T in the local newspaper and left work to go and look at it, called home and drug my son out of
bed to go with me so he could ride it back home if I purchased it. Which I did and he had to ride it home - a 45 min ride at about 25 degrees (winter in
Utah). Boy did I own him big. I couldn't part with the 750 just yet so my son and I trade off riding the bikes depending on the rides we go on. I have
been married for almost 31 years and have two kids a girl 28 and my son 24. Looking forward to learning more about my bike.

Hi joycog. Welcome to the forum and congratulations on acquiring your T.
I don't want to offend you, but you do realize that the ACE 750 has a single-pin crankshaft that gives it that sound and the ACE 1100 has a dual-pin crankshaft, so no matter what kind of pipes you put on it, it will never sound much different than it does right now? Vance and Hines Dual-Bagger pipes were probably the most popular add-on pipes for the Tourer, but all they do is make it sound a little more hollow and a few decibels louder. The Ace Tourer had the dual-pin crankshaft put in it to lesson the vibrations of a touring bike. It makes it a better engine than the standard ACE 1100, but you lose that sound that so many like. I've seen people do a lot of crazy things to change the sound of their ACE Tourers. If you want my opinion and some good advice....don't. You'll just ruin a lot of research and finely developed exhaust system. Again, welcome aboard.

Hello joycog and welcome to the forum from upstate New York. I saw your post earlier this morning and you must have changed it. Good thing I saw it or I would
be asking Gary why the Heck he is talking about pipes when your thread does not talk about them. You can't be switching threads around like that or
you'll make us old geezers think we're losing it, which for some of us they already have.
We don't see many members from Utah. None that I can even think of. If you have any questions or concerns about the Tourer this is the place to come for advice or opinions. Our search engine works really great if you want to research a topic. If you want to just talk about riding this is the place where you know people are going to listen or read as the case may be. Again welcome to the forum and I am looking forward to 'talking' with you in the future.

Welcome from north Alabama, Joy. Good for you that you "roll your own". The T is a fine machine and will serve you well. don't be afraid to add
your input for what you know, or ask about what you don't.

Hi Joycog,
Welcome from S. MS. I predict that you will love your "T", as they are a fine touring bike. BTW, I rode through your state a couple of years ago on mine, and found it beautiful. Hope you become an active part of our forum.. Bob <>< |

Welcome to the forum as well from SE Michigan.
I bought the wife hers last year and she absolutely loves it. Enjoy and drive safe...
I don't mind coming to work, but that eight hour wait to go home is a
bitch.

Welcome, Joy! It's nice to see another woman rider here - don't worry about the guys here, they are a bit odd,
but also very nice and helpful.
