In reference to the earlier topic about legislation, Wednesday I saw discrimination in action. Driving in my car from Ohio to my home in Florida, as I passed into the great (not) state of Georgia, I saw a electric board announcing that all motorcyclists must stop in the weight station. This is discrimination, pure and simple. What do you think would happen if the sign said, "All African Americans must stop" or "All Hispanics must stop", the court would rule it was an illegal activity.
At this time I needed gas and lunch so I got off at the next exit, got back on and drove north back into South Carolina and spent my 60 bucks in gas and lunch outside the state of Georgia.
I travel through Georgia quite often and as of 3/9/2011 will make a concerted effort to not spend any money is that state. My family was planning a sightseeing trip to Atlanta this spring, already cancelled. No more riding trips to the NGA mountains, now will head to the Blue Ridge.
Anybody want to join me in this boycott? I've started my letter to the Governor and I sure hope all 400,000 to 500,000 visitors to Bike Week will avoid spending money in Georgia and spread the word to others. This has really got me steamed!
