...although it's inevitable, I started to hear a deep seated "ping"/rattling coming from the front of my HSAT riding to work this Tues past. Only predominate when either decelerating or between 45-65mph'ish. I started with the usual "strange noise culprits"; tightened all my header bolts, [cosmetic] valve covers hex bolts, and highway/radiator bars. Notta.
Took it to the stealer and they confirmed the inner wall on our double-walled header exhaust had come loose. Ugh. Their recommendation was to replace the entire exhaust, of course they would suggest that. My question here is can I simply replace the header pipe[s] only?
I've read here, some ACE-T owners have drilled holes through the header pipe, and had the inner pipe welded to the outer pipe.
Looking for feedback/advice, before I pull the trigger on a perm' fix.
p.s. although I would like to consider V&H, I have both Cobra [swept] floorboards and a Rivco Center stand which are not compatible with the V&H pipes.
