I read recently that the Blue Ridge Parkway have been closed due to landslides and damage from last year's hurricanes from Mile Markers 317-325 (near Linville, NC) and Mile Markers 347-349 (just north of Mt. Mitchell). Apparently the two miles near Mt. Mitchell have one lane open with stop lights regulating the traffic but the 8 mile stretch near Linville will not be open again until Spring 2006. Has anybody been down that way recently? It looks like a long way off the BRP to skirt the Linville area closure. Is that true?
I was thinking of taking the BRP approximately 250 miles from southern Virginia down to almost the Smokies for our Third Annual ACE T Rally. I may have to rethink my route. Any help would be appreciated.
