I am planning a ride up the Blue Ridge Parkway for this summer. We will be starting in the Asheville, NC area and going all the way up to the end at
Waynesboro, VA and back to Asheville. We have not yet decided on an exact day yet, and it may end up to be a short notice thing, but any of y'all who want
to go are welcome. We will be taking our time, so it will probubly be a two or three day road trip.
Is there anyone else out there who has done a BRP ride? I understand that the gas stations are few and far between, and any help in the planning stage would be
much apreciated.
So far the plan is as follows, Ashville to Blowing Rock to Fancy Gap to Roanoke to Buena Vista, to Waynesboro and back. The average leg is about an 80 mile
ride, and we will be doing a lot of stopping and looking.

Mike, I have been on all 469 miles of the BRP several times. I rode miles 0-199 twice last year which is from Waynesboro, VA at I-64 to Fancy Gap, VA at I-77.
The Environmentalists have put an end to gasoline being sold on the BRP, but there are many places where gas stations/convenience stores are less than 10 miles away and a few where they are farther away. You can always stop at one of the Inns/Visitor Centers, which are usually about 50 miles apart and ask them where to get gas. I have your contact info, and will get with you when we make final plans. I am thinking somethime in June or July, but we are going to try to keep things flexible so as to avoid rain. I really want to be able to enjoy this trip, and while I don't mind rain, especially in the summer, I'd still like to avoid it if I can. Fred, Thanks for the info. It should come in very handy. I loved driving the Blue Ridge Parkway in my MG when I was stationed in Norfolk - I envy you. I'm glad Mark mentioned Grandfather Mountain. Take pictures
and write a journal for all of us.

We will be on the BRP the week of the 4th. We have been planning the trip from Michigan for a while now. They say it is a busy time of the year but, it's the only time some in our group can get off work. Work interferes with our play to much. This is my first week long ride. I hope the butt buffers work good. Do you have a date set? It would be great to hook up with fellow T's. |

No date set. I was going to play it by ear, and would be more than happy to adjust it around other rider's schedules. The more, the merrier. If you are also planning a trip as well, lets just merge the two. I live so close to the BRP that I can easily change up, and I think Mark (NC tourer) is in a similar position. Mike |

For years, I have been going to the coast for the 4th. We had planned on being at the Outer Banks this year, but those plans have been delayed. Also, I've
promoted into a mgt position where it's possible I won't get the week of the 4th off this year. If I don't, I'm expecting to get maybe a day or
so. I'm usually off Fri, Sat, Sun so maybe we can somehow work something out. Looking forward!

We have a schedule for the trip. It looks like we will be arriving in Townsend TN on Monday July 2 and Tuesday we will be running a day trip " tail of the dragon or cades cove" Wed the BRP up to Black Mt. The plan should be final in the next week or so. D. |

Cades Cove is always a treat to see the wildlife. That is a MUST SEE! I got many pics somewhere. I need to post a few of those. Pics of 16pt + huge buck deer 3 feet away, bear, turkey.. Beautiful place!

Due to finances and time, I can only do one good MC trip this year, and I've decided it's going to be the T rally that Fred is putting on this year. I
will still be rolling up and down the BRP this summer on day trips, but I can't go for a longer run this year.

I am sorry to hear you had to cancel your BRP trip. Thanks for scheduling our 5th Annual T Rally. We'll be able to directly compare the Striped Snake to the Dragon and also the Shady Valley Country Store to the Deal's Gap Motorcycle Resort. If you want to ride up to the BRP on SR 215 or US 276 Andy/Clerider and I will be going that way tomorrow morning. Then we will be heading south on the BRP to Cherokee and beyond. Are you riding with Guitar Ken in Oct.? I plan to ride on Fri. and Sat. the week he traditionally spends in Franklin, NC.
