Seat and handle bars |
Lead | ||
|
I have a stock seat with about 4,000 miles on it - $50 o.b.o. - and handlebars from either a Spirit or Sabre (I forget) that I bought from someone on here.
The handlebars are a little narrower and higher than the stock T. I never installed them, I think I paid $30 or 35 o.b.o. Prices do not include shipping.

These may be the Spirit bars that you bought from me. If so, then these bars also have counter weights installed in them for anti-vibration. The counter
weights alone cost more than you are asking for them They were bought new from dealer by papamte and only had a few miles on them.

You're right Stan, I did get them from you. Another senior moment.

I have Spirit bars on my T and love them! I'm small of stature (5'6") and I never felt comfortable in parking lot situations with those wide T
bars.
Also, the stock T bars made me feel like I was sitting ON the bike. My Spirit bars make me feel like I'm sitting IN the bike. Oh yeah, and it's the easiest swap you'll ever do.

Hey guys, for those of us who are visually impaired here (that be all of us) how are the Spirit bars and the Tourers bars different?

Chicago - I wish you lived close by so I could have you help me. I could never get up the nerve to take the old bars apart for fear I wouldn't get the
grips back on the new bars.
Alain - I placed the bars in the risers on my bike. They put my hands up a little higher, in a little closer and back a bit. I'll try to take a picture comparing the two later today. Scott "Silence is golden, duct tape is silver"

alepel wrote: It's simple, really. Stock T bars are low and wide. Spirit bars are more like Harley buckhorns, higher and narrower. I've made this swap twice, and I did destroy the grips on my current T. However, I made the swap in the middle of winter and just picked up a set of aftermarket grips off ebay. Don't be afraid to make this swap! It is SO easy! Both sets of bars are the same diameter. The distance between the risers is also the same. Both bars have the little hole that locates the lever and button sets. The only thing you have to do is to release the clamp that holds the front brake line to the fork and pull the brake line up about 1 inch.

Scott.....thanks for all the trouble you have gone through to illustrate the differences between the handlebars. I really appreciate it and I am certain that
others do also.
Now that I have seen the differences I can see that the Spirit bars are more like the ones on my old VT800C. When I got my Tourer I enjoyed the wider positioning of the Tourer handlebars compared to the buckhorn style of the VT800C. alepel |

Handlebars are sold. The stock T seat is still available.

Do you still have the seat? If so I'm interested.
