I have never used a comm system while riding, other than giving cagers the finger. As I get softer with age, I have been thinking about it. I don't like
talking while riding, but sometimes it would be very convenient and sometimes I would love to warn my wife of some upcoming issue (cops, potholes, etc.). I
always take my cobra FRS or whatever they are, hunting and they are great. I am not interested in a cb at this time because I am not interested in talking to
anyone but my wife on her bike, nor am I interested in others listening in. All I need is a headset with PTT. My wife would like the same, but with the
addition, if possible of some aux input for her mp3 player. Anyone use a system like that? Any suggestions? Thanks much.

Try sending a pm to Sarch. I think he has a system that will do what you want. I wouldn't mind having something like this myself. I'm deaf in one ear
and have only 80% in the other. I have to turn my head to hear my wife speak from the rear seat, and that is very dangerous to say the least. I have the Cobra
radios also that has a mike for speaking to another bike on rides. It comes in handy when it becomes necessary to flag them down in heavy traffic or to request
a gas break and such.

J&M now makes a complete system.
The one Sarch uses on his Nomad is a StarCom 1. All of them are, somewhat, expensive. -Dan

What headset do you use with the Cobras? There are a number of aftermarkets. I have looked at the JM system with CB and passenger and audio inputs. I like it, but I think I prefer FRS or GMRS, more private than CB. Dan, I checked out that Starcom system, holy expensive! Looks like a sweet system, but dang. I am tempted to get the handlebar mounted stereo from Motorcycletunes.com and just buy a headset for my Cobras. Not sure if I will be able to hear the radio at freeway speeds with a full face helmet and I don't want to piss everyone off going through town (actually I don't care that much). An integrated sytem seems better, somehow. D |

I saw a nice Bluetooth system on a web site. It was expensive. I believe about $260 per station. If not for the cost, I would consider it. Bluetooth has some
nice advantages although the range is only about 300 feet.
- you have to tell the bluetooth system which other blutooth devices it should pay any attention to. Therefore you will only communicate with people you want to communicate with. In other words it establishes the electronic equivilent of a wired connection. - if you have a cell phone with bluetooth, you can press a button to temporarily disconnect from the other rider(s), take the phone call, then switch back. I'm sure you ALL want to take cell calls while riding .... but there are a few times when your only option to ride is to also be contactable by a family member (or ....unfortunately ... your employer!). If anyone has purchased one of these, I'd like to hear their opinion. - Rich |

Dave, I'm using the earbud and inline mike that came with the radios. It has a push to talk button built in the mouth piece that also keys an alert on the
other set that I'm about to speak. When I 1st bought these, there was an optional over the ear head set with a mini boom mike that I wanted, but was too
cheap to fork out another $30 for them. I can't even find them now. There is a seller on ebay right now that is selling a wired communication system for
2-up riding for around $20. Don't know how good they are, but might be worth a try for the money.
