I replaced my Elite3 rear tire today. It had reached the wear bars and i have several long trips remaining this year so i decided to replace it. I accumulated
22,889 miles on it and if it weren't for the long trips i have coming up i think i might possibly have made it to 25k.
I have a few theories as to why this tire lasted so long. I only weigh 170lbs, never ride two up, always try to have smooth transitions on and off the throttle, watch my tire pressures closely 38psi front 42psi rear, ride a nice mix of roads, and don't have loud pipes. I have ridden with quite a few that have loud pipes and they spend so much time gassing it so they can hear the rumble that they don't ride smoothly, which i believe is the secret to long tire life.
Hopefully some of you will have the same luck with these tires that i have. I know that i am sold on this tire and hopefully tire manufacturers will get the message that we get sick of spending lots of our dollars on tires that only last 8-10k miles.
