Anybody ever take apart a turn signal switch. The switch on my"T" is hard to press when you cancel the t/s. I rode a friends VLX 600 and his was
smooth. I think in may have eight years of crud built up in it. Whats involved in cleaning a lubing this thing. I don't want to have stuff flying apart
when I take it off. Thanks folks.

I just sprayed WD40 into all the holes I could find and worked the button back/forth...in/out until it freed up. You can split the switch control housing w/o
parts flying off or out of it. Just open the housing into halves and apply WD40 to the small holes in the back of the switch mechanism.

I've taken them apart in the past. Like Stan said, parts will be flying. After taking mine apart, I cleaned everything up with contact cleaner. I had a small can of cleaner from Radio Shack, but I think it's the same as brake cleaner. After all cleaned up, gave a shot of white lithium grease before closing. Andy |

I didn't take the switch itself apart...just the housing that the switch is mounted into. I was able to fill the switches cavity with WD40 by spraying it
down into the thumb lever area, and into any small hole I could find on the back side of the switch. I then worked the thumb lever back and forth several times
to let the internal mechanism clean itself. I then let the WD40 drain as much as would drip out before giving it a blast of air. If you don't have a
compressor, then canned air from a computer supply store works good also. The problem with brake cleaner, or electrical contact cleaner is that some of these
are not usually paint friendly and can dull your finish in some cases. Use caution when using these.
