Thanks Glenn.....that explains the 'thunder' I heard.

My thoughts about the mesh covers are several. First, I don't want anything visible on the front of the radiator. Too much Bling if you know what I mean. Second, I don't want another layer of filtration between the air and the coolant. Third, I believe that somewhere I saw a chrome radiator cover without the screening in the front, but I just can't find that particular one. So I'm hoping someone comes forward with the name of a product or an outlet that I can go to to purchase one.

Careful about running the radiator w/o any protection over it. Small rocks and debris can fly up from the vehicles in front of you and poke a hole in your radiator. The radiators are very expensive for these bikes.

Stan....there's no cover on the radiator now is there? If you pull the black plastic shroud off the radiator is there a screen across the face of it? I don't remember seeing one.

Hello Glenn....well like you I am trying to fight this winter boredom. Winter has not been too bad but right about now it does seem to be never ending. My wife and I are going to LA on March 11th to visit her boys and to get warmed up a bit. We'll do a little sightseeing, although we've seen just about everything there is to see in LA. She tells me that she has seen more of LA married to me than she did the 30 years she has lived there.

I've pretty much satisfied my curiosity about the chrome radiator shroud. If I decide to get one I know which one I want. The problem I am having is that I'm not entirely certain that I want one on my Tourer. I've studied many of the Tourer pictures in the Member Bikes section and I've looked at T's with and without the chrome radiator. I seem to lean a little heavily on the fact that the chrome radiator looks "too much chrome" to me. I know that this sounds blasphemous because some would tell you that there is never too much chrome. But I do see it sometimes as too much bling. I feel more strongly about chrome striping around the gas tank and chrome side covers and especially the left side chrome cover for the engine case.

So that being the case I have been looking to other accessories to spend my money on. I still haven't ruled the chrome shroud out though.

Diane and I were in Newport last February because my stepson got married on board the Crystal Yacht out of Newport Beach. What a fabulous experience that was. I remembered Newport also for the fact that the first morning I awoke and step out onto the terrace of our motel, I saw snow capped mountains in the distance. I just couldn't get over that.

I have suggested to Diane that this year we go to Laguna. I've been there before by myself and I thought that the two of us could take in some of the artist galleries in that area. Dana Point I do not know anything about, but I'll do a google search for it after I finish this post.

A couple years ago Diane and I took a long drive up the PCH from Santa Monica. It wasn't long before it got boring. I think it was near the Naval base. I guess that you have to go a lot further north to get to the really good part of the PCH. Diane and I were originally planning to go this year to San Francisco and then drive down to LA for our visit, but time and finances dictated other plans. Right now Diane is trying to convince me to go to Desert Hot Springs for a couple of days and I think I would rather go to Big Bear. Decision, decisions! These are the kind I like to mull over.
