I had ridden the bike on a cold day. It spit up what I thought was a lot of oil. Not having any real issues I thought this was odd. So anyway, it was a wee bit
low.
I read through the forums here about checking and adding oil. Found some tips.
I realized that I needed a funnel and some fuel hose. I head to the auto parts store in my truck... while the bike is in the garage waiting to be serviced (that sounds bad...)
There was this contraption that consisted of a odd looking end, a clear tube and a stopper for the other end. It was $2 and some change, so I get it... along with a 99 cent funnel. I was set!
I get home, the contraption actually screws to a plastic bottle of oil (which my gear oil was in) and has a valve to turn the flow on and off. This was one of the greatest inventions of all times!! This worked great for the rear end, without taking the bag off. And would be great for adding motor oil, since I always spill some.
Just thought I would share that with everyone here. This was indeed worth the $2 and probably worth twice that much... and if you tried to add rear end oil any other way then maybe 3 times that.
I need to get over to the for sale forum to list the 99 cent funnel that I don't need now....
