I rode in very cold weather last week. Long story.. I know it was not the brightest thing I did all week.
I had a pair of very heavy HD(tm) gloves which went into the bags about 2 miles from the house. I donned my normal winter gloves, which have seen better days but were still ok.
My right thumb was frostbit by the time I got to work, it is actually still a little "sore" from that experience. Mostly the problem is that the stitching on these gloves let in the wind. And several years of use have reduced the insulating factor of them. But they are good leather and do cut the wind.
Now the upside is that for lined gloves they are absolutely great for the controls as they are soft and move well. The HD(tm) gloves are like trying to run the controls with a handful of Ball Park Franks(tm).
Anyone ride in cold weather enough to suggest a brand or specific glove that will offer good protection?
I don't ride in really cold weather often. And by really cold I mean anything below 50.... I am a native Texan so cold to me has a different meaning than say, someone from Minnesota....
