I can never get more than 2 years out of them, and that's with careful maintenance (using distilled water, keeping the fluid at proper levels, using a
Battery Tender when not in use, etc.). The conventional wisdom from various message boards is that it's an inherently flawed design. I just purchase the
Yuasa "sealed" equivalent and I'm assured by the dealer that I will get longer life. My riding friends (mostly H-D riders) routinely get 5+
years from their batteries. Odyssey makes an excellent battery (used by the millitary), but they don't make a size that easily fits the ACE T.
If anyone has experience with the Yuasa YTZ14S, I'd like to know your thoughts.

What brand battery did you get and where did you get it? The last one I bought was a parts unlimited and it puked battery acid all down the side of my bike,
needless to say I wasn't very happy.

might check with gary at gmanindustries.com. the guys at the suzuki site rave about these batteries. he may be able to custom build one for the T. bud

I bought a 39 dollar sealed battery off eBay that seems to be working just fine.

It was 38 degrees last week when I started my T in the shed. It had been about four weeks since the last time I started it. The weather has been typical for
New England; Upper 30's during the day, lower 20's at night. I have a five year old Interstate. I think it cost me $65. Worth every penny as far as I
am concerned.

I have never had a T-shaped battery that lasted more than 2 years either. I am done with non-maintenance-free batteries. My next battery will be one of the maintenance-free varieties.

Hi Jay, Yeah, I just went and looked it up. This is a "T" shaped battery. It's HYB16A-AB. I think it costs $69.95 today. It's says it has 210
CCA, which I admit is not the highest out there, but I swear by this battery. It's the best I have ever found. From December through March (give or take a
day or two) I have it hooked up to a Battery Tender Jr. I never use the battery tender outside of winter. I live in Connecticut, so subfreezing nights are the
rule in winter up here. I don't think you'd be disappointed with this battery. I'm Hope this helps.
Oh, I also wanted to point out that I know this isn't the cheapest battery, but how much did you spend on those other two batteries that you bought?

I bought the Yuasa brand sealed battery. I didn't want to take a chance on a "replacement" brand, of which there are a bunch. I paid $115 on
motorcyclebatteriesusa.com.
I probably could have bought a cheaper battery, but if it lasts 3 years or more, then it well pay for itself. |
