Hi everyone. I have a 98 Shadow ACE that I have had since 1999. We have been all over the western United States in that time. I have hit a deer at 60mph
about 2 months after getting the bike. One issue I have is that the bracket holding the headlight to the chrome housing keeps breaking. I have replaced this
5 times in 8 years. I am planning to add some rubber dampeners between the frame and headlight bracket to see if that helps. Does anyone have this same issue
and how did you handle it...
Thanks Ron |

greetings and welcome to the family, Ron. Can't help you with your headlight issue but 5 times in 8 years is a bit unreal. Hope someone can come in and
address that issue.

Never heard of this problem before, but rubber cushioning might help if you don't over do it. The housing bolts to the bracket from inside the housing.
Might just need a small piece of inner tube or some thin cork gasket material added between the bottom of the housing and the top of the bracket. Not too much
or the headlight will dance on you. Adding slightly longer bolts with Nyloc nuts would allow you to tighten the bolts just right w/o over tightening, and at
the same time keep the nuts from backing off. Stan

cjmr....welcome to the forum That's some pretty serious breakage you talk about. Did hitting the deer have anything to do with knocking the front end out
of whack and causing that headlight to continually break on you? I trust you'll get your problem resolved with the help of a few members here on the forum.
Again welcome and I am looking forward to 'talking' with you more in the future.
