Ok guys I was holding off on updates of my real HID headlight retrofit. I just completed its maiden voyage and can't hold off any longer. I'm super pumped with the results so far. It still looks rough but its performance is unbelievable.
For those in the dark, HID's are the very white headlights you see on luxury cars these days. They use a ballast to strike an arc to produce light instead of a filament. They are 3 times brighter than a comparable halogen and only use 35 watts. Plus as headlight technologies go projectors are up to 54% efficient; the faceted lens the tourer comes with 29%. So I'm starting with more light and getting a larger percent of it on the road. I've purchased the headlight projector from a '07 Lexus IS350 and have been working to fit it to the T off and on all winter.
I'm not sure if the picture does it justice but the beam is wide, even and bright! I took a quick ride in the cage after my ride on the tourer and the one HID is superior to the two halogens' on my car.
I'll post more later but I was just soooo pleased with this frist test I had to tell someone.

thanks for the kind words.
