I'm on the road with my Harley owning friend and he shamed me in to buying Mobil 1 V-Twin oil. If it's good enough for his Harley then it's good
enough for my Honda. At about $9 per quart it isn't cheap and with the Purolator filter it adds up, but this is the nicest my T has shifted since I bought
it. It still has a hitch between 3rd and 4th but it's not as pronounced. The engine runs quieter and starts easier, too.

oh good. another oil thread.
I've used M1 20-50 in my T until this last oil change. I switched to M1 10-40. My bike seems to like that better. Despite the hot summers here in Texas, the 20-50 just seemed thicker than it needed to me.

Mobil 1 is good. I've been using Amsoil synthetic oil and an Amsoil extended life filter in my Wing for the last 8k miles. Like you said.......it ain't
cheap, but it's so good. The Amsoil rep that I spoke with at the last rally said that it's really not that expensive in the long run. I have their
premium oil and filter in the Wing and they good for up to 16k miles between changes. I usually changed oil about every 4000 miles or less with conventional
oil. I'll not push the Amsoil to 16k miles before I change it again, but will change it at about 12k miles instead. If you look at it that way........the
$60 the Amsoil and filter cost gets devided by 3 and that makes it only $20 an oil change. So, it is not that bad on cost after all, and I only have to do it
once vs. three.

I tried all the other oil and found the Honda oil from the dealer worked best in that bike. Bought it by the gallon.
When Rabbi got the bike with 80,000 he had it compression tested and it was fine. It still had the original clutch and it was fine. |
