Any help would be great. Thanks in advance. I have a vibration and purring noise in the bike at times. It's always after the bike is warmed up. It is there
when I am leaning the bike either way, and when I hit a small bump in the road. I thought it was wheel bearings, even though they looked fine, I replaced them
(front and rear).After that didnt fix it I thought it might be drive shaft noise so I pulled the shaft and swingarm, and it all looks fine. The u-joint is
pretty clean, no dirt or rust, and looks well lubed. I get very small play in it when I twist it with my hands. Id say less than a 16th of an inch. I see you
cant just replace the u-joint, you have to get the whole yoke assembly. After all this I still dont know whats wrong with the bike. (other than needing to make
a special socket to remove the swing arm.Honda should re-engineer that piviot assembly nut.) I should note that the tires are in very good shape with lots of
tread and life left in them. What's next? Any help would be great..Thanks guys (and gals)..

Most likely the tires making that noise. They don't have to be worn out to make this noise. What happens is that they become cupped a little just off the
center area and start to sing like a 4wd truck with mudders on it. This happens to about 90% of all bikes and some brand tires are worse than others. Not much
you can do about it unless you like replacing them every 3000 miles or so.

I'm with Stan on this one... most likely the tires.
The front tires will probably cup and the rear tires seem to feather. Cupping is a little indentation between the tread. There will be a center band, approx 1/2" wide. If you run your hands over the tires you'll feel the cupping. Feathering on the rear is: the tire part, right after a water channel will be a little more worn. Run your hand along the back tire and it might feel like a bunch of little speed bumps. Andy |

Yes, what brand tires? The frist time I instaled an E3 on the back I thought I had all sorts of issues untill I figured out it was the tire making the noise.

Does it make a clunk sound you can feel when hiiting a bump if the tires are bad/cupped. It's worse on smaller bumps than big bumps. Do cupped tirs do this
sound only when warm or does it do it all the time? Thanks for the reply..BTW the suspension seems fine, and does not do it when the bike is cold.It does do it
at very slow speeds, like 5 mph on up, but less noticable at higher speeds but still there.
