Just watched this, and I must say it's not at all what we expected ! A musical starring Johnny Depp ! With a very gruesome plot. The wife had her eyes
closed through half the movie.

Sooo, did you like it or not?
I saw a live production of Sweeney Todd on public tv many, many years ago, and I was shocked to see Angela Lansbury in it! Gruesome, but interesting. I love old musicals, opera, operetta...and I love horror films...so Sweeney Todd is right up my alley. I'm going to watch it this weekend. I just finished watching all 3 of the Resident Evil movies over a couple rainy afternoons...eeeeeek, I'm still having nightmares...but dang, that wicked chick can kick some zombie-fied BUTT!

Yes, I did like it, but would not place it up there with my all time favorites. I too love blood & guts, war, sci-fi movies. If you like musicals,
it's for you.

I have always been a fan of Sondheim's music...the song about the "menu" choices was hilarious! I certainly enjoy Burton's quirky dark humor,
costuming, settings, and overall atmosphere. I think Helena Bonham Carter played her role wonderfully.
***SPOILER BELOW***** Since I already knew the plot, I wasn't freaked out by the story. BUT, I think they went waaaay overboard being graphic with the slashing. I am a survivor of a robbery in which a man held a knife to my neck, wondering the whole time what it was going to feel like when/if he slit my throat, and I definitely had to keep looking away from those parts. That got way too personal for me. Would I watch it again? Perhaps...the next time I'd know when to close my eyes, and I'd be able enjoy the rest of the movie. I think if I could have seen the PBS version of the killings in this movie setting, it would have been much more palatable (perhaps a poor choice of word!). Live It, Love It, Paint It, Ride It!

I was confronted by a drug crazy fool with a pistol once, BOY, THAT BARREL LOOKED LIKE A WATER PIPE All I could think of was what to say to keep him from pulling that trigger.
Must been the right thing cuz he was gone as quick as he appeared. WHEW

after-effects that followed me around for a very long time, and sometimes still pops up. (PTSD) The odd thing about the incident was, and perhaps you
experienced this, too, that my brain started functioning on about 20 different levels, quickly and quite efficiently. I used to have an antiques store in
WI with some very expensive items, so I had read about what to do in a robbery. Thank God.

After I got the money out of the register and he threw me to the ground, I followed his *ss out of the store about 20 ft behind him and screamed over and over "the f*cker robbed me" till the guys from the tattoo shop down the street ran after him...but the GREAT part was when he turned around at the corner....Were you NUTS? You chased him! I would have stayed on the ground and just said Thank you God, Thank you, thank you. You chased him!!! Remind me never to get on your bad side!

LOLOL, Alain, it really takes a lot to tick me off, so you have no worries!! I didn't follow RIGHT BEHIND the dude - I left space between us. I didn't
want to tangle with him again, so I waited until he was out the door, then ran...I wanted someone on his tail so he wouldn't get away (but he did).
Oh, believe me, I said "Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, God" MANY, MANY times, after I calmed down. (I think you told me that you read the angel story in my blog about what happened right before the robbery. I sincerely believe that angels were sent to protect me that day.) eclecticdawn wrote: And I would agree with you. That was quite a story. I believe that there are no coincidences in life but one could have hoped that the "angel"
could have stayed in the store just a wee bit longer. Then he could have been a guardian angel for you.

I believe that it all worked out the way it was supposed to, for the events that transpired after all the turmoil have brought my life to a wonderful place,
with wonderful people, and doing something I love.
Alain, you always make me smile! I think I know exactly what pic you're talking about. I'm assuming it's a pic of a chick on a bike. You should see the rest of the photos from that shoot! HAHAHAHAHA! One of the pics will be included in a calender that I'm putting together of a certain biker chick on our various bikes. I'm trying to come up with a witty name for the calendar, and somehow "A Girl and Her Toys" might give folks the wrong impression!)
I gotta get back to the paint booth - break time's over! Live It, Love It, Paint It, Ride It!
