Best watts for light bar?? |

Ok guys I'm putting together a light bar. Looked through old threads and did not find much on this, what is the max wattage that should be used so as to
not over load the T's meger charging system? 55/60, or can it go up to 100 per light?? I know there's ready made kits but I like to see what I can
piece together myself and go from there.

55 watts max. I would look for some 35 watt bulbs if you can find them.

If you're adding a light bar to "see" 2 35's oughta do it. If you're adding a light bar to "be seen" you might want to consider
a headlight modulator. I live in the north and don't ride when it gets dark early; in the summer it stays quite light until almost 11 pm which is past the
time I have to be indoors. So the stock headlight works for me. The modulator gets attention from all but the most *&^%$#%$^ cagers. A chunk of angle iron
and some of those rubber mounted "utility lights" from Pep Boys would work. Spray it all with some of that "chrome" paint and you got her
boy.

I always felt like headlight modulators can fool left turners into thinking your are signaling them to go ahead and turn...

I find with the modulator that cages hesitate with a slightly puzzled look on their little faces cause something unusual has caught their beady little eyes. So
while their brains spin up like a 2 gig hard drive from 1990 they don't pull out of parking lots on my right so far into my lane. I keep it modulating on
high beam and it even causes breaks in their cell phone conversations. I also have a wig-wag brake light that alternates the bulbs a few times and I've
noticed cages stopping a little further behind me. I'm thinking of making a light bar out of oak. Maybe colonial carving or Danish modern....... hard
choice. It will complement my sissy bar nicely. I covered the pad with gold velvet....... real sharp.
