Ok, well it doesn't sound much like a riddle, but I am riddled!! I have almost exhausted myself trying to figure out what in the #$%^ is wrong. My bike
was running "ok" and I decided to fix everything I could to prevent any melt downs during riding season. I replaced the rear tire, primary gear,
stator, and voltage rectifier. Because of all the usual problems melted connectors, ticking sound, and battery not charging. Anyway after slapping it all back
together I have a new problem. Going down the freeway the engine starts cutting out, almost like it is running out of gas (didn't have this problem prior
to the "tear down") and the exhaust pipes are turning red (sign of running lean). I get home and I take the fuel system apart (exept the fuel
filter), check mixture screws, and clean the carb. I plan to check the voltage coming from the pulse generator and ECM next. Does anyone have any other ideas?
I also have another question. My timing gun works on the left side spark plugs but not the right side spark plugs. Sounds weird to me. Should both sides generate a light on the timing gun? I check spark and both spark plugs are getting spark. Maybe it isn't getting enough voltage?? (pulse generator or coil problem?) Then it seems my bike would be running rich.
