HSATF Tail Gunner Posts: 75 03/31/09 4:07 PM	I concur. The motels around Seneca Rocks are by no means 5 star ...or 4 or 3, maybe 2 star but likely 1. Have stayed in them. If I stay at Seneca, I stay in a cabin or I do not stay there. Elkins is probably the best bet. Along with motel choices, there are restaurant choices as well. There are many fine twisties easily accessed from Elkins. Brian

Regarding hotels, I am having a hard time justifying paying over a $100 per night. I know people look for different things in a hotel including my wife and me. If I have a clean, quiet place to sleep, a TV, a phone and can walk to a restaurant I am happy. Maybe we need to poll the potential attendees on how much they are willing to pay. Fred

If you put in the week later you can reserve a certain type of room; still no cheaper though Tony

As long as it is clean and has a shower it works for me. The cheaper the better for me. Really other than sleeping how much will we be in our rooms? Ken

HSATF 1st Officer Posts: 941 04/03/09 9:27 AM	Am I the only one who can't seem to sleep (as in I toss and turn and don't get any sleep because I'm creeped out) in a scuzzy hotel?? No one ever seems to speak up when we are planing but nearly every one complained during/after the Marion, VA rally. The days in is a converted hospital, now that is creepy; how many people died in my room again? I think the Super 8 may be the way to go if we want to save some money. If $30 dollar savings lets even one more person come it is worth it. I will come to the rally no mater where we stay. Just taking the time to try to steer you guys my way while we are planing. not trying to start anything. Tony

Posts: 7675 04/03/09 11:18 AM	Tony, I have stayed in some hotels where I had to leave after one night, but usually I can handle older hotels without getting creeped out. I am not saying that I want to stay in a converted hospital, but I can stay in all the Super8's I have ever been to, even the older ones. Andy/Clerider took a lot of heat for picking the Econo Lodge in Marion, VA to host our 5th Annual T Rally. Other than the Hotel Staff washing paper plates and putting them out for re-use I did not have any problems with it. The room did not creep me out and neither did breakfast since I usually do not eat breakfast anyhow. I just drink the hotel's orange juice. As long as they do not wash the paper/plastic cups and re-use them I am good-to-go to the Super8. Anybody else? Tony, if you want to stay at the Hampton or the Holiday Inn Express we could meet you every morning before we ride. Fred

Posts: 7675 04/03/09 11:27 AM	I just made a reservation at the Elkins, WV Super8 for check-in on Thursday, July 23rd and check-out Sunday, July 26th. If we decide on a different hotel, even if it is in a different city, I can cancel the Super8 reservation right up to 6 pm on July 23rd. Fred

BTW have you noticed that no maping software can find the address Super 8 Elkins 350 Beverly Pike US Rt 219/250 S Elkins, WV 26241-9803 US Using google's street view I located the hotel. 639 S Randolph Ave, Elkins, WV, United States finds it in google maps.
